The baby spends most of his or her time there in the nursery. It should be clean, with lot of natural light and well ventilated.

Special care and attention has to be given to furnishing for the baby’s nursery like treating its wall, floor and furniture. Keeping the walls with warm and bright colours like yellow, red and blue increases baby’s constantly developing senses. For the flooring wooden flooring is the best as growing babies tend to fall so as to reduce the injuries to the head.

For the windows a set of blinds is also a very good idea. Organize playing toys which are innovative and also with attractive colours in the low lying shelves or in a toy box which are easily accessible. Night lights are another important factor in baby nursery. Use of a dimmer switch is also recommended for the baby’s nursery, as the light intensity can be varied.

Today, almost every child in an urban or semi urban area goes to a preschool. Some parents see it as an alternative to daycare, others consider it a place where their child will interact with other children of their age. It is widely considered as the first step in education.

Most children who are about 2 years old are enrolled in preschools. Most kindergarten ask for information about the preschool. Unlike conventional schooling, preschool children learn more by observing, playing , touching and interacting with other children. So children should have a nurturing environment. The child should express himself or herself freely and their creativity should not be suppressed.

The playschool should be secure for children and designed so that children can play safely. The staff should be well trained to facilitate the development of the child.

In most societies, children are looked after by one or both parents, especially when they are young, less than ten years old. When the parents are working away from home, children are sent to child care centers or crèches, where their activities are monitored, instead of leaving them alone at home. Depending on the age of the child, and budget of the parent, there are many different types of child care centers.

More care has to be taken of very young children, so a child care center for children less than 3 years old will have to be equipped accordingly. The children will also have to be trained, so the staff to children ratio is usually higher. As the children grow older, they are busy with their own activities and require less individual attention. The number of staff required is less and the fees are correspondingly lower.

The smallest child care centers are run from home, often by parents who have small children themselves. They usually market their services through referrals in their neighborhood. Due to space and staff constraints, they usually can admit only a few children at a time. Many are not covered by local licensing requirements. Since they have lower overheads, and are often run by stay at home mothers looking for some additional income, their charges are usually low.

Many schools have a provision for child care after school hours. The teachers are trained to take care of the needs of their students and help them with their home work. This arrangement is convenient for parents, as they have to drop off and pick up all their children from a single place. Government funding is often available for these child care centers.

There are a few large chains of child care centers, which operate on a franchise basis and have centers in various cities. These child care centers have specialized staff, but studies have shown that the same amount of attention is paid to a child in a large child care center and a smaller center run out of a home. Some large companies have child care centers at their office premises for employees who have your children. These centers are usually outsourced to larger child care center chains.
