They were usually made to actually slot inside a cabinet. It would have the look on the outside of an ordinary piece of furniture but when it was opened it revealed an impressive dolls house with many rooms. On the inside there would be all the furniture scaled down to size and the craftsmanship was of the highest standards.

The dolls which were usually made of wood or wax are extremely collectible toys today.

Antique wax dolls were usually made by pouring melted wax into a mould. Wax does’nt seem to be the perfect material for making dolls but they were less fragile than bisque or china and it could be tinted to give the doll a beautiful and realistic skin tone.

It is often quite difficult to accurately date these dolls because they were hard to mark and the only way they could do this was by labelling them.

It was in the 19th century that “baby houses” began to be known as dolls houses and were often found in the nurseries of the children belonging to wealthy families.

They were quite often furnished with exquisite needlepoint rugs and couches upholstered in silk. The furniture was usually made of excellent quality wood and was accurately cut down to scale.

It was by the end of the 19th century the dolls were made of glazed china and bisque. The attention to detail was amazing and very often the dolls were even equipped with their own gloves, purses, fans and even sewing kits! This made them very easy to personalise and the accessories became very popular gifts for her.

In recent times plastic and metal dolls houses were introduced but undoubtedly it is the amazing craftsmanship of the early “baby houses” which have stood the test of time that remain firm favourites with miniature collectors today.

A basic bedding set will consist of a dust ruffle, bumper, two sheets, two valances, the blanket. Other bedding sets may include a  crib skirt and bumper and quilt.

Special care and attention has to be given to furnishing for the baby’s nursery like treating its wall, floor and furniture. Keeping the walls with warm and bright colours like yellow, red and blue increases baby’s constantly developing senses.For the flooring wooden flooring is the best as growing babies tend to fall so as to reduce the injuries to the head.

For the windows a set of blinds is also a very good idea.  Organize playing toys which are innovative and also with attractive colours in the low lying shelves or in a toy box which are easily accessible. Night lights are another important factor in baby nursery. Use of a dimmer switch is also recommended for the baby’s nursery, as the light intensity can be varied.

So care should be taken to ensure that they no sharp or pointed objects which can hurt the baby. The baby may swallow any thing available, so there should no small plastic balls or toys in the vicinity.

Most children who are about 2 years old are enrolled in preschools. Most kindergarten ask for information about the preschool.  Unlike conventional schooling, preschool children learn more by observing, playing , touching and interacting with other children. So children should have a nurturing environment. The child should express himself  or herself freely and their creativity should not be suppressed.

The playschool should be secure for children and designed so that children can play safely.  The staff should be well trained to facilitate the development of  the child.
